A Snowy Shaker

Hello Whimsy friends!
Digital Design Team member, Vicki here, to share a fun shaker style card today using the CUTE November release digital stamp called "Snowy".

I will share how I've put this together...
Check it out:

I have colored up this sweet digital stamp with the following Copic markers:
1.  Shoes/earmuffs band:  E89, E87, E84
2.  Pants, buttons, stripes on shirt:  BG78, BG75, BG72, BG000 (white stripes on shirt)
3.  Pockets on pants/vest:  E44, E42, E41
4.  Earmuffs/mittens/vest collar:  E15, E13, E11, E02, E00 (using pointillism technique and then I used a white gel pen to flick in some marks to resemble "fur")
Hair:  YR27, YR24, Y23, Y21, Y11
Skin:  E21, E11, E00, E000, R20, R00
Snowman:  Y17 (nose), C8, C5 (hat), B00, B000 (body), R00 (cheeks)
Background around image:  B00, B000, B0000

I took a Spectrum Noir Glitter Brush Pen and added some shimmer to the tiny snowman as well as the snow on the ground she's standing on, but of course it's hard to see with the shaker contents.  I've also taken some Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops and dotted each snowflake circle on the image.

To create the shaker details, I've used the beautiful digital papers from the November digital collection called Christmas Roses and Snowflakes for my card.  My finished card measures 5"x5" square, so I've cut a piece of this printed out paper slightly smaller than my white card base.  I've also taken some clear sparkle ribbon to wrap around this piece before attaching it down.
To create my shaker base, I have used a frame type of die, but if you don't have a set, you can use a square or rectangle nested die set to create your own custom frame.  I have used some more of these pretty digital papers for my frame and added some acetate behind it.  This is when I also made a small banner with some of the same background papers and heat embossed the "let it snow" sentiment from the Whimsy Stamps Holiday Mini Sentiments Clear stamp set and cut out a border to place across the window frame.
So now that I've got my image panel set onto my card base and my window frame with foam tape around it set off to the side, I can add my shaker contents!

**Tip:  Make sure that your foam strip pieces are touching each other snuggly so that none of the shaker bits fall out!**

For my shaker, I have used some sequins from Lucy's Little Things as well as some Twinklet's Diamond Dust.  I was thinking some of the products from the Paper Door kit would work beautifully for making many shaker style cards too!  So check that out before it's gone!  Il ike to pile my shaker contents in the center of the window area and then use a brush to make sure everything stays where I want it to be.  Then I just add my window frame and press down securely all the sides to make sure is completely down before I shake it up.

Lastly, the finishing touches I did was to add a bow along the side and place a snowflake gem in the center.  I've also added some crystal gems to the corners on my window frame.

If you make any shaker cards, we'd love to see them over on the Whimsy Stamps Facebook Group where you can also enter it in the challenge over there too!

Thanks for stopping in today!  See you next time!

  1. Oh, what a beautifully colored "Snowy" image, Vicki! I love the fur you enhanced on her earmuffs and the wonderful "snow" covering her boots. The little snowman in her hand is so adorable. You did a fantastic job creating this awesome shaker card. I agree about ensuring the foam tape pieces fit snugly! It only takes one time to learn this. LOL. Hugs!
