Special Guest - Terri Burson

Hello friends. I'm back with another guest design project for Whimsy Stamps, sharing this Wintry Valentine that features the Tweetie Pie stamp set and Cozy Winter paper pack.  I am so smitten with these sweet birdies and couldn't wait to create with them.  Scroll down for a few creative details!

I love the size of my centerpiece stamp.  Because of this, I chose to make a simple square card with minimal ink blending, and focus on making these tweetie birds shine!

Let me tell you, I do not consider myself an expert on coloring with Copic markers.  In fact, I am a bit of a rebel in that I like to do my own thing.  I often swipe colors to test and see what may or may not work rather than following the standard recommended rule of choosing 3 colors in the same family with a 2 or 3 number variance between colors.

In the photo above, I cut a square piece of Neenah 110 lb solar white cardstock and did some minimal ink blending with a hybrid light pink ink.  I left the center white, for placement of my birds heads to begin coloring.

It's most likely cold in much of the USA during February, so I thought it would be fun to once again stretch those holiday stamps into the great beyond for Valentine's Day.  As I did for my last project, I'm once again accenting a snowy scene with a white gel pen.  It adds a fun flair and that added bit of interest, I think. If you'll look closely, you can see that I also accented the musical notes and drew in tiny white hearts around my bird stamp.

My card is layered with the pink snowflake sheet from the Cozy Winter paper pack and adhered to my square, scored card.  I'm also a matchy-matchy kind of girl, so I initially chose my paper and then decided what coloring implements I would use to coordinate.

If you'd like to know which Copics I've used, here's the run down:

Birds: E33, YR21, Y21, Y11, 0
Bird Hat: R32, R20, RV10
Bird Scarf: B97, B93, B000
Branch: E33, E31, E00

Thanks again to Whimsy Stamps for having me pop in today and share what inspires me.  I hope you are inspired as well!  Stay crafty, and make something sweet for your loved ones this Valentine's Day!  Kindness is the gift that keeps on giving.

Voo Doo Too - Tutorial Tuesday with Faye

Hi Everyone, it's Faye here today :)

I thought I'd share my work, step by step, as I colour one of the images from the Voo Doo Too Set

But, before I get even to that, I want to remind you to keep an eye on your markers. A little bit of housekeeping here and there saves you an awful lot of hassle in the long run. This tutorial had me on the caffeine long before it got to the point of  you reading it, because I have been a bad copic mummy!

Yes, my name's Faye and I neglected my RV91. Subsequently, my RV91 decided not to play, it couldn't, it was dryer than my mouth once I realized it was dry, mid colouring. Insert various eye rolls here. And it wasn't just my RV91. So, people, look after them and they'll look after you.

Right, let's get to it. I'm colouring this image from dark to light...

I'm using R81 to 'plan' where my shading is going to be

Ok, big girl pants in position, I'm going in with R83

Again, I'm planning my shading first, with the lightest colour for that area; R85

But, I couldn't leave Voo Doo Too without a card to live om, could I?

I doodled the border myself, coz, that's how I roll. But, if you're a little nervous about that, check out the FaDoodles Sets. Just sayin'!

Goodies...
