Fishin' Friends - Special Guest - Dina Kowal

Dina Kowal here happily guest designing for Whimsy Stamps today.  I needed to just sit and watercolor today, so I pulled out this Fishin' Friends image to work with. I filled up my watercolor palette last night so it was all fresh and ready to go.

When the watercolor was dry, I used colored pencils to add some fine shading and details, and then a little gesso to add highlights. The sentiment I used is from the beautiful Fill My Heart set - I thought it was a sweet addition to this tender scene. I used the largest of the Hand Stitched Nested Rectangles dies to cut the panel to an A2 size.

I finished up a portrait this weekend of a golden retriever who loved the water - that fits well with my card today. She was fresh out of the river after a swim when the photo was taken, and it was fun sketching in all her curls of wet fur. If you'd like to see the progression of her portrait, you can click over to my business site here

That's all I know - I hope you're having a great week and thanks for having me Whimsy!

Iris

Hello Whimsy Friends.

Ellenor here, it is my turn today to show you one of my cards.
I have used the gorgeous stamp Iris, designed by Syliva Zet.

I had so much fun colouring her, particularly the wings. My favorite colour is pink, but this time I really stepped outside my comfort zone and used the colour blue instead.

How do you like her with blue wings? I LOVE IT :)

******
I have used polychromos for my colouring:
Hair: 187, 283
Face: 131, 132, 187, 189
Wings: 145, 152, 247
Flowers: 135, 160, 194
Cloths; 181, 232, 233

Winter Birdy Love

Good morning Whimsy Stamps friends happy Friday!

Winter Birdie love

Hi friends,
The month of January and Feb are months of romance and love. Whimsy stamps are the best ones when it comes to cute romantic images. I love these adorable birdies who look so romantic and cute.

I stamped the image using a light ink on water colour paper and that helps to get a beautiful no line colouring. I used my favorite water colours to paint the cuties. I stamped the sentiment (a sneak peek for a set coming out in Feb) in two colours and that ties the card so beautifully.

I hope you liked this card for today and if you wish to buy the same stamp set visit www.whimsystamps.com

Happy Chocolate Day!

Hi Whimsy Friends! Today I have some Valentine inspiration for you. On my card I am showcasing a clear stamp set from the December 2017 release called Crazy For Chocolate, an older large word die 'Happy' and the newly released Polka Dot Stencil.

To make this card I started by cutting my card base 4.25" x 11" from heavy weight bright white Hammermill cardstock. Folding it in half cross-wise. Using the  Polka Dot Stencil and some pink Nuvo Embellishment Mousse I created the dotted background. I colored the bowl of chocolate from the Crazy For Chocolate set using Copic alcohol markers and cut it out using the coordinating Crazy For Chocolate die set. I've added Stickles Sprinkled Sugar to the top of each candy. Once it's dry it really looks like sprinkled sugar crystals. I love that it looks so real! Here see for yourselves:

The "Happy" part of the sentiment was cut out from brown cardstock using the  large word die 'Happy' and the other part was stamped directly on the card base. The chocolate bowl and the word Happy were attached with some foam tape to give some dimension to the card. To add some bling I adhered pink enamel dots from the  It's a Party Enamel Dots set , brown Sequins and pink rhinestones between the polka dots.

Here is another close-up of the polka dots made with Nuvo mousse. It gives such a nice effect on the card. I love using structure paste or embellishment gels/mousse with stencils for adding dimension and special effects.

Copic markers used:

R81 - R83 - R85
E23 - E25 - E27
C00 - C1 - C3 - C4 - C5

Girls Best Friend

HI, Céline here to share with you my latest Whimsy stamps card.

Today I chose Girls Best Friend set

It's a really easy card.
It's my first use of stencil.
My card base is a 13cm x 13cm square
Then I've added a patterned paper cut at 12,7cm x 12,7cm
For the wall I've cut a 9,8cm square on a white paper then I've used some red distress ink.
I've placed my sentiments to seems like a graffito.
I've colored my cat then added it on the card.
