Truly Scrumptious Maya...

Woo-hoo - it's Friday! Yeahhhhhh!  Almost the beginning of the weekend (...and it's going to be a 3-day one if you live in the UK, yay!!).

Today I have a brand new card to share with you using the beautiful Maya Blowing Bubbles digi stamp - one of the wonderful new digis that Crissy Armstrong has designed for Whimsy Stamps.

I followed the fab sketch over at Truly Scrumptious, as it allowed me to use one of Ann's matching digi Maya Blowing Bubbles Sentiments stamps on the pull-out 'hidden' tag:

I've coloured Maya using Copic Ciaos, and used some co-ordinating paper from my Basic Grey 6x6 'Nook & Pantry' paper pad.

Thanks for popping by today!  Wishing you all a FABULOUS weekend!

Hugs,

Baby Boy or Baby girl!

Hi Everyone!!!
It's Erin and welcome to the Whimsy blog!!!  I have 2 cards to share with you today.  Two of my friends recently became moms for the first time!!!  And I couldn't be happier for them!  One had a little girl and the other had a little boy.  I decided to make both cards at the same time using the same image, just different colors.  I did a card for little baby Sarah first.  I used soft pink and chocolate.  Proud momma is colored in with copics, then cut out and popped up on dimensionals.  I also added some stitching to soften the edges.
Next is the card I created for baby Keegan.  I kept the chocolate ribbon the same but changed everything else.  I stitched and distressed the edges on this one.  Both sentiments are from Whimsy as well.
Thanks for sharing a bit of your day with us here at Whimsy, see you next time.
Erin:)

A Serene Shy-Ann

Good evening Whimsy friends! Rowena aka Craftypagan here and it's my first time on the Inspiration blog and I've got the beautiful Shy-Ann who's part of the fab Mythical Collection to share with you today! I think she's such a great image, as soon as I saw her I knew I had to have her! I've coloured her in with my copic markers, and added Shimmerz paints all over the wings. I felt she needed a bit of something extra so I popped glossy accents all over her and I think it really shows her off! All the papers I've used are from Basic Grey Kioshi.

Here's a little close-up:~

Belated Masculine Birthday

Good morning all!!! And a very happy Tuesday to you. Today I would like to share a masculine card I made for my nephew using the adorable Whimsy Turtle and the Whimsy Circle Postmark sentiment set. I thought since I was fashionably late for his birthday it would be very appropriate to use a SLOW turtle. Isn't he just darling.

I colored my image in with water colors and distressed all the edges on my card. The layout uses today's Midnight Madness Sketch challenge. The dp is Basic Grey Marakech. I added some stitching with some thicker thread to make it more masculine.

My Whimsy dt sister, Debbie E. also asked many of us at Whimsy to be guest at today's challenge at Spoon Full of Sugar as well since Whimsy is the sponsor this week. What fun!! Today's challenge there was to create a birthday card. This is my entry for this challenge. For more inspiration from several of my Whimsy dt sisters for this challenge, please visit: Debbie, Erin, Sue, Ann, Denise, Simonne, Marley and Rowena.

Have a great day!

Chris

Horse-ing around!

Hello Whimsy fans and happy Monday to you all!

A bit of mixed emotions for me today, as like most other UK parents, I had to wave our dd off to school this morning for the start of Term 5 following our 2-week Easter break - I was so sad as I love having her home!

So to cheer the mood, I have a bright and happy card to show you today, showcasing one of our brand new Whimsy Digital Stamps!  This one is from the Crissy's Digis line and is called 'Gift Horse':

I've also used one of the fabulous Raindrop Echo Designs digital sentiment stamps from the co-ordinating set entitled 'Gift Horse Sentiments'.  Isn't it just great how you can resize and move around digi stamps to fit your needs perfectly?  Pure awesomeness!  (...that's for you Ann, ROFL!!).  Not to mention the instant gratification of buying digi stamps - no waiting around for the postal service to do it's job, especially if your order is being shipped from outside your home country!

Okay, well I think that's enough from me! (...I'm in a bit of a chatty mood today, so I could go on and on if I'm not careful... LOL!).

Wishing you all a wonderful start to the week!

Thanks for popping by!

Hugs,

Encouragement Card

Hello! Just popping in to share a card I made for a friend's daughter.  She just applied to a gifted program for the summer in her town.  I thought this sentiment would be fitting whether she makes it or not...it's so encouraging!  And this adorable turtle just makes everyone smile!  I colored him with Copics and accented with Glossy Accents. The sentiment is from the "Hang in There" digital sentiment set.  Thanks for stopping by today and please rush over to pick up this gorgeous "Hang in There," image at Whimsy!

Have a great day!

Guest Designer Bev's Tutorial - Attaching Charms

Morning All!

Today we have a special treat for you. Our Special Guest Designer Bev, of All the Things I Love, is sharing a tutorial with us today for attaching charms to our projects. I don't know about you, but I love charms and I never know exactly what to do with them or the best way to attach them to my cards. So Bev is going to share her idea, which is not only easy to do, but creates a perfectly dangling charm detail!

I’ve had lots of requests on how I attach my charms with chain and jump rings so I have quickly done a simple step-by-step for those that wanted to know.

I use forceps (medical ones that I picked up from a medical suppliers here in Newcastle) but any pointed nose pliers will do the trick, tweezers won’t work as they are not strong enough. I use cheap silver plated jump rings and chain which I get from the jewelery section in Hobbycraft but I would think you could pick these supplies up at any bead/craft store.

Hold the jump ring with both sets of forceps/pliers with the join uppermost.
Twist the right hand forceps/pliers towards you – DO NOT PULL IT OUTWARDS, all this does is misshape the jump ring, By twisting it forwards to open and backwards to close the ring remains a perfect circle and does not distort.
Repeat with the other end of the chain and feed this jump ring on to the brad to secure to your flower.
I hope this helps a little, looking forward to seeing all the dangling charms. lol

Thanks for looking,
