Good Morning!
Today we have a very special treat for you! The amazingly talented Kim Piggott of Cards by Kim is visiting to share a tutorial with us for using glitter. If you've not seen Kim's gorgeous creations and use of glitter, you are definitely missing out and should take a hop over to her blog! I am in awe every time I visit Kim! Her cards and projects are always beautiful and adorned with fabulous accents and gorgeous glittery touches. Everything is always so lovely and the card she created for this tutorial is no exception! Wait until you see it!
A big thanks from all of us at Whimsy to Kim for taking the time to create and share this tutorial! Now here's Kim...
Hello,
Denise very kindly asked me to show how I add sparkle to my cards. Here is how I made my card with Denise's stunning Whimsy Carousel Horse Cool Ride.
First of all, I love to add Glimmer Mist to my papers. Here is my paper before I added Old Lace Glimmer Mist.
After the glimmer mist
You can see that delicious glimmer.
I have coloured my image with distress ink pads. Here is my image before I have added Glossy Accents to the fur (fake) trim. Then I have sprinkled extra fine glitter over this. The glue dries clear so you do not alter the colour of the glitter.
Straight away you can see depth to the image.
Then I love to use Stickle glue. I have added Star Dust Stickle glue to the base of my image. Also to the mane, tail, snowflakes on coat and snowflakes on the pole.
I have distressed the edges of my paper and card with Walnut Stain and have added Ice Stickles to the edges to bring your eye to the center of your card and image.
I have also covered my snowflakes with Glossy Accents and sprinkled glitter over these.
To make the pole stand out. I have gone over the edge with a Sakura clear Star Dust pen.
Here is my completed card. With all it's glitter!
Thank you so much Denise for inviting me, I have so loved using your stunning stamp.
love
Kim x

Hi Kim! I never tire of reading your 2 tutorials, I read them from time to time. Have you ever considered doing a video? I would love to see how you actually apply the glitter. How do you apply your Glossy Accents before you sprinkle the fine glitter--do you use a brush? Love your techniques, thank you so much for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant,I would never have thought of using the glossy accents then the glitter, brilliant.TFS
