Special Guest - Anika Mercier

Hello, Whimsy friends!  Today we welcome Anika Mercier back to the Whimsy blog!

Hi Everyone, I'm excited to be back with my second card as a guest designer for Whimsy Stamps this month. When I was asked to guest design I knew I had to use one of my favorite stamps sets of all time - Whimsy Stamps' Bunny Balloons 2. Well, I actually snuck in two of my favorite stamp sets since I also used Whimsy Stamps' Bunny Balloons. These adorable bunny images just make me so happy!

Images

To start, I stamped two of the images from Bunny Balloons 2 and one image from Bunny Balloons onto Strathmore's Bristol Smooth cardstock with VersaFine Clair's Nocturne ink and then heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. Next, I colored the images using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers in the following colors: Gray Brown, Gray Tint, and Pale Pink for the bunnies; Almond Pink, Lilac, Green Shadow, and Shadow Mauve for the balloons.

Background Details

For the focal panel, I wanted to create a sense of sky so I lightly went around the left and bottom sides of the bunnies with the Light Blue Zig Clean Color Real Brush Marker. I love the soft, added depth this gives the card. Once the watercoloring had dried, I ran the focal panel through my die cut machine with a stitched rectangle die.

Sentiment

To create the sentiment, I stamped one from Whimsy Stamps' Bunny Balloons 2 stamp set directly into the focal panel using VersaFine Clair's Nocturne ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. There are several other really cute sentiments in both of these stamp sets. I hope you enjoyed the card. Thanks for stopping by!

Thank you, Anika, for this adorable inspiration!

Special Guest - Ashley Ebben

We are thrilled to have the talented Ashley Ebben as a guest this month!

Hello, everyone! I am so excited to be guest designing for Whimsy Stamps this month! For my first card, I knew I wanted to use one of the adorable Bunny Balloons sets, but it was so hard to choose which one! I finally ended up going with this little guy from Bunny Balloons 2. His bow tie and vest are just the cutest things, don't you think?!

I fell in love with the Blurry Flurries paper pack the moment I saw it, so I decided to use one of the bokeh pieces as my color inspiration for the card. I used the Slimline Connected Bubbles die to create a cloud stencil by tracing the outside of it onto thick white cardstock and cutting it out. I stamped the sun from the Splash set in black ink onto white cardstock and masked it off. I then used my new stencil to create a cloudy sky using Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, and Mermaid Lagoon. I cut the ink blended piece down with a stitched rectangle die and added it to the bokeh paper that was my inspiration.

I stamped the bunny from Bunny Balloons 2 and the clouds from Splash onto white cardstock and colored with Copics. I fussy cut everything out and added them to the card, popping the bunny and some clouds up with foam tape for dimension. I stamped the sentiment from Splash in black ink and finished with a scattering of iridescent crystals for some sparkle.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Special Guest - Jenny Colacicco

Hi Folks! I'm excited to be guest designing for Whimsy Stamps this month. Today is my first post, and I'm focusing on those super cute Bunny Balloons!

Whimsy Stamps has two stamp sets featuring balloon bunnies - I couldn't choose between them so I'm featuring both on my cards today. I've linked all of the supplies used today at the end of this post - I challenge you to choose between them!

For my first card, I decided to feature the Sun Rays Stencil. I first created an ink blended background to mimic a sunset (taking some liberties with the colors) using Bristol Smooth cardstock. I used Distress Oxides and blended (from the bottom) Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry, Shaded Lilac and Tumbled Glass. I then overlaid the the stencil and added super sparkly Nuvo Moonstone Glimmer Paste and set it aside to dry.

I stamped one of the cute balloon bunnies (this one is from the first Bunny Balloons) and colored it with my Copics using Warm Grays W1, W3, W5, just adding the colors in the creases and shadow areas and blending out into the white area. I used RV colors for the balloon. I then fussy cut out the image, leaving a small border.

For my sentiment, I used the Whimsy Stamps Birthday Word and Shadow die set. This has three layers, but I just used two for my card today, die cutting the main word from purple glitter cardstock and the second layer from vellum, then adhered them together. I also heat embossed sentiments from the Bunny Balloons stamp set in white embossing powder on black cardstock and trimmed them out.

To put the card together, I first trimmed the panel down to 4.25" x 5" tall and adhered to a white note card, leaving white strips top and bottom. I adhered the 'Birthday' directly to the panel with liquid adhesive and then mounted the bunny and sub-sentiments on foam tape. As a finishing touch, I added some Clear Wink of Stella and Nuvo Crystal Glaze to the balloon.

My next card features almost all of the other bunnies from Bunny Balloons along with some from Bunny Balloons 2.  I also used the Whimsy Stamps Slimline Windows die. This die cuts a perfect stitched window for a tall thin card (8.25x3.25"), and I die cut mine from Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock.

I wanted to carry on with the sky theme, and this time created a cloudy background by trimming a panel of pale blue cardstock to just slightly smaller than the window die cut. I then blended Distress Oxides in Picked Raspberry, Shaded Lilac and Tumbled glass up the panel using a cloud stencil from my stash. You could create a DIY stencil using this die set from Whimsy. I added some fine water splatters, then adhered the window die cut onto the panel using thin strips of foam tape to add dimension.

I stamped all of the bunnies onto 110lb Neenah Solar White in Copic friendly black ink, then colored them in with neutral gray (N) copics. I also used R20 for the ears and cheeks along with a blender 0. I then fussy cut them out. I colored the balloons in violets (V) and RV colors to match the background. Fussy cutting out the balloon string is tricky, so for this card I decided to dispense with that and replace it with DMC gold thread.

I adhered my bunnies down with foam squares. For the balloons, I added the thread to the back with double-sided adhesive, then the foam squares, and adhered them to the panel, and then added a dab of liquid glue to the bunny and held the end of the thread in place until it dried. For one of the bunnies, I wrapped the thread around his body a few times.

To finish, I added a white heat embossed sentiment, white gel pen stars, and a few drops of Nuvo Jewel Drops in Honeysuckle. I also added Clear Wink of Stella and Nuvo Crystal Glaze to the balloons again.

That finishes the cards - aren't they cute!? I'll be back again later this month with some more projects featuring goodies from Whimsy Stamps.

~ Whimsy Stamps - Miss You ~

Whimsy Stamp's new release is full of awesome springtime stamps!  When I saw the new Bunny Balloons 2 Clear Stamp Set, I knew immediately that I wanted to use this adorable bunny along with the floating balloon.  I think it makes the sweetest "missing you" card plus, I  think it would make a lovely sympathy card.

The new Up in the Clouds Die Set is so cool!  You can choose to use the center pop up circle for the sun, like I did here, or use the sun by itself.  I love the extra dimension the pop up circle gives to the design of my card.  I have also used the new Pierced and Stitched Circles Die Set.  There are eight dies in this set, which gives you so many layering options.  I have chosen to trim off part of the left side of the circles and grass.  You don't always have to use the whole die cut.  It's nice to use your dies in different ways and to change things up once in awhile.  I am totally in love with this card and that I was able to create my vision!

Best Kind of Friend - Bunny Balloons 2

Hi Whimsy friends, Iris here today. I hope y'all are having a fabulous week so far. Bunny Balloons 2 is the name of a super cute clear stamps set from Whimsy's March release. These floating bunnies with their balloons are not only super adorable but extremely versatile for birthday cards, encouraging messages, celebration cards or just a 'Hello' note.

Here is my card made using the Bunny Balloons 2 set, Beaucoup Bouquet clear set & matching  Beaucoup Bouquet die set as well as the Pierced and Stitched Circles die set.

I started out with a A2 size top fold card cut from heavy weight black cardstock. For my background I used heavy weight mixed media paper (Strathmore 140lbs). This is my absolute favorite paper to use for ink blending. Ink blends like butter, very smooth and without leaving any marks from the sponge or brush. In addition it is very sturdy and water friendly. It won't curl, get soaked nor will the surface look puffy after adding water or water based ink/color.

I sponged my background panel with Salty Ocean distress ink. Spritzed on clear water and dabbed off the excess with a paper towel. Then I used watered down Chipped Sapphire distress ink and a brush to add some dark blue splatters; dabbing off the excess again. My background panel is about 1/8" smaller than my card base.

I die cut the circle frame from white cardstock using the Pierced and Stitched Circles die set. I stamped the bunny and the flowers & foliage with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Hammermill 100lbs color copy paper (it's the perfect paper for alcohol inks, just not for any kind of water or water based ink/color). I colored with Copics and Faber Castell Polychromos.
The flowers and foliage were die cut with the matching die set and the bunny was fussy cut.

I stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink. After assembling my card (I used foam tape for some of the elements to give it more dimension) I added 2 sequins and some purple Stickles to the bunnies bow tie for a finishing touch.

Here's a list of Copics & Polychromos colors I've used:
