Special Guest - Waleska Galindo

Hi, Whimsy friends!  Today we welcome the fabulous Waleska Galindo back to the blog!

Hello Friends!!! Waleska Galindo here from craftinglovew, and I'm super happy to share with you my second post as a Guest Designer for Whimsy Stamps.  I am crazy for the new Lookin' Shark stamp set!  I have a crazy love for shark stamps, and this one is definitely one of my favorites so far.  I mixed this funny stamp set with the Slimline Connected Bubbles die set to create an underwater card.

CARD DETAILS:

To create this card I started with the background.  For the background I used Oxide inks in colors Peacock Feathers in the middle of the panel and then Salty Ocean, and on the edges I used Lucky Clover. I blended these three colors very well and added some water splashes for more texture and to create the under water feel to this panel.

I set this panel aside to dry.  I die cut six of the Slimline Connected Bubbles die and adhered them together so they can have dimension.  I then put glue around the bubbles and added sparkling glitter to them. They look super fun with the dimension and glitter.

I colored the super adorable and fun sharks with Tri-blend Spectrum Noir markers in colors Ice Grey Blend, Dark Red Blend and Jade Green Blend. I cut them and adhered them to the back of the biggest bubbles, so they will look like they are inside the bubbles.  I stamped the sentiment with black ink and glued this panel to a white card base.

I had so much fun creating this card. I want to thank Whimsy Stamps for the amazing opportunity to design with their awesome products!!! I hope you can be inspired to create some fun summer cards with Whimsy Stamps products, and remember to stay safe and stay crafty! hugs!!!

Special Guest - Ashley Ebben

Hello, Whimsy fans!  Today we welcome the talented Ashley Ebben back to the Whimsy blog, and we know you're going to love the beautiful card she is sharing with us!

Hello friends! I am back on the Whimsy Stamps blog today for my second post as a guest designer! One of my favorite things in the world to do is read. So when I saw the Mermaid Escape stamp in the store, I knew I had to use that reading mermaid!

I started by blending Distress Oxide inks in Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, and Mermaid Lagoon onto white cardstock. I then took the waves stamp from Splash and stamped it up the background in the coordinating Distress Oxide color, masking as I went. I love the soft pattern this gave my water! I splattered some shimmer ink and white acrylic paint across the whole piece for a bubbly effect. For more bubbles, I cut the Slimline Connected Bubbles die from vellum and added it to the background. I then added the background to a piece of Blurry Flurries paper in a similar color scheme to finish the watery look.

I stamped several images from Mermaid Escape in Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink and colored with Copics. The mermaid got a sparkly rainbow tail at the request of my three year old daughter :) I fussy cut the images out and added them to the card to make an underwater paradise. I stamped the sentiment onto navy cardstock with VersaMark ink and embossed with white. I added it to the card with some foam tape, then finished with a sprinkling of iridescent jewels for extra sparkle.

Thank you so much to Whimsy Stamps for having me, and thanks to you for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Special Guest - Ashley Ebben

We are thrilled to have the talented Ashley Ebben as a guest this month!

Hello, everyone! I am so excited to be guest designing for Whimsy Stamps this month! For my first card, I knew I wanted to use one of the adorable Bunny Balloons sets, but it was so hard to choose which one! I finally ended up going with this little guy from Bunny Balloons 2. His bow tie and vest are just the cutest things, don't you think?!

I fell in love with the Blurry Flurries paper pack the moment I saw it, so I decided to use one of the bokeh pieces as my color inspiration for the card. I used the Slimline Connected Bubbles die to create a cloud stencil by tracing the outside of it onto thick white cardstock and cutting it out. I stamped the sun from the Splash set in black ink onto white cardstock and masked it off. I then used my new stencil to create a cloudy sky using Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, and Mermaid Lagoon. I cut the ink blended piece down with a stitched rectangle die and added it to the bokeh paper that was my inspiration.

I stamped the bunny from Bunny Balloons 2 and the clouds from Splash onto white cardstock and colored with Copics. I fussy cut everything out and added them to the card, popping the bunny and some clouds up with foam tape for dimension. I stamped the sentiment from Splash in black ink and finished with a scattering of iridescent crystals for some sparkle.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Tuesday Tutorial with Andrea

Hello, Whimsy friends!  It's Andrea with you today, and I have a fun, slimline St. Patrick's Day card to share with you.

We all love those hilarious donkeys from Wonky Donkey, right?  Well, I thought it would be fun to use one for a St. Patrick's Day card, and the awesome papers in the Slimline St. Patrick's Day paper pack were perfect for that!

I started by diecutting white cardstock with the Slimline Connected Bubbles Die.  Next, I backed each opening with one of the Slimline St. Patrick's Day papers.  There are several ways to do that, but for the most part, I simply applied liquid adhesive to the back of the opening and placed it over the section of paper I wanted to use.  Then, I used my scissors to trim away the excess.

I trimmed another of the St. Patrick's Day papers and adhered it to a white card.  I affixed my backed die-cut with foam tape.

To create my "gold", I clear heat-embossed two of the images from the St. Patrick's Day Gold set onto metallic paper.  After die-cutting them with the Pierced and Stitched Circles Dies, I popped them up on top of two of the circles with foam squares.

I stamped that fun donkey from Wonky Donkey, colored him with Copics (colors listed below), and cut him out with the coordinating dies.  To give him some St. Patrick's Day flair, I stamped the leprechaun hat from Holiday Occasions (retired) and a shamrock from St. Patrick's Day Gold.  After coloring each with Copics, I fussy-cut them and used a black marker on the edges to hide the white of the cardstock.  Using an Xacto knife, I made a slit in the donkey's teeth, tucked in the shamrock, and added a bit of glue to hold it in place.

I attached the donkey with foam squares and added Glossy Accents to his eyes.  I heat-embossed a sentiment from Holiday Occasions and finished with a scattering of gold sequins.

Have a great day!
