31 Nights of Halloween - Night 21 - Special Guest Rachel Alvarado

Good evening, Whimsy friends!  Tonight we welcome the lovely and talented Rachel Alvarado back to the blog!

Hello crafty friends! Welcome to night 21 of the Whimsy Stamps Annual 31 Nights of Halloween! I'm Rachel and I'm so happy to be guest designing tonight. I created a non-spooky, Halloween-themed box card tonight featuring some of the cute little candy corn critters from the "Candy Corn Dress Up Stamp Set". These fun little images are all decked out for a night of trick or treating!

To start my card, I first stamped my images with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I then used Copic Markers to color them and used my Brother ScanNCut to quickly cut them out. Next, I used a paper trimmer to cut some black card stock and make a box card base with the help of a scoring board as well as some adhesive. I added some grassy strips into the center of my box card by diecutting some black card stock with the grass dies from the Grass and Cloud Edger Die Set.

Copic Colors Used:

• Oranges: YR00, YR02, YR04, YR09, YR19
• Whites: 0, C00, C1, C3
• Black: W5, W7, W9
• Grays: W2, W4, W6
• Purple: V01, V15, V17, V09
• Yellows: Y13, YR20, YR21, V12

For my ink blended pieces, I blended a mix of Spiced Marmalade, Worn Lipstick, Seedless Preserves, Wilted Violet, and Black Ink Distress Inks. Lastly, I adhered my images with some liquid adhesive as well as some trees that I had die cut using the Tree Assortment Die Set.

31 Nights of Halloween - Night 11 - Special Guest Marie Marco

Tonight we welcome the uber talented Marie Marco back to the blog for some spooky inspiration.

Hello Crafty Friends! I’m so happy to be back guest designing here on the Whimsy Blog! We are on full Halloween mode now! Today I am revisiting my favorite spooky stamp set from Whimsy Stamps! This stamp set, designed by Deb Davis, called Eye Scream is just so much fun that I knew I had to make another card with it! There are just endless possibilities with this set! Today I wanted all eyes on the image of the peekaboo Mummy eyeball! 

This is a very simple card using just one image as my focal point for the front of my card. I wanted this piece to have a vintage, gore vibe.

To start off, I die cut 2 A2 sized panels from sturdy 110 pound cardstock. I then found some vintage wallpaper Halloween pattern paper (any will do) and die cut it in A2 size. I adhered it to one of my cut panels using score tape and distress inked the edges in Walnut Stain and Black Soot distress inks. 

I colored the eye using the noline coloring technique by stamping the image with Antique Linen and used water color pencils to color. You can you use any kind of watercolors! 

Then taking a vintage-looking frame die, I cut out the die using black card stock. I also used vellum paper for some simple interest which I also distress inked and placed behind the eye. To frame my focal point eye image, I watercolored some random sprigs and foliage die cuts to create a wreath . To make everything POP, I added some red texture glue using an old bottle of Scribbles fabric glue to create that bloody amazing detail! You can use any red texture glue - like Nuvo drops would work perfectly!  I love this part! 

I wanted to keep the front of my card simple, so I put my sentiment on the inside. 

I used Whimsy’s amazing Happy Halloween Word Die for my sentiment.  I also used the bat eye from the “Eye Scream” Stamp set.  I cut off the wings to replace the “o” in Halloween. I love the font of this Happy Halloween Word Die so much! It evokes very spooky vibes!! 

 Presto! A simple Halloween Card that your gore-loving friends and family will love this Spooky Season!!! 31 Nights of Halloween - Night 8 - Special Guest Tami Bastiaans

 

Hello! My name is Tami and I am so happy to have been invited to be a guest designer for Whimsy Stamps 31 Days of Halloween. I made a card today with a technique I enjoy. I used the Slimline Filmstrip Die, some masking paper and the Halloween Scream stamp to make a progressive scene in the film strip.

I thought it would make it fun if it was a scene from an old time scary movie.  Let's get started with how to do this. 

First, use the filmstrip die to cut a mask. For my mask, I cut some Judikins Masking Paper out of the filmstrip. 

I colored two pieces of acetate with alcohol inks.

There is no technique to this, just squeeze some ink on the felt and rub it on one side of the acetate, then let dry.

 

While I had the die out, I also cut two filmstrips from the acetate that had been colored with Alcohol Ink. Set the filmstrips aside. This gives you a choice and you can use the extra for a second card if you want.

 

Cut a piece of Distress Watercolor Cardstock that is the size of your slimline card - 3.5x8.5. Center the filmstrip mask over the piece of Heavystock and adhere.

Position the mummy stamp along the right side of the top frame and stamp with Distress Archival Ink in Ground Espresso and Black Soot. Then stamp it in the middle of the middle filmstrip frame, and along the left edge in the bottom frame. 

Lastly, cut a mask of the mummy out of masking paper by stamping it and fussy cutting around it. 

Then stamp the zombie from Halloween Scream along the right side of the bottom frame. In addition, stamp and cut a mask of the zombie on the right side of the bottom frame.

Mask off the mummy in the first frame, then stamp the graveyard background across the first frame. Masking off the mummy will make it look like it is in the background of the film strip. Then ink around the masked off mummy with Distress Ink. I used Old Paper, Hickory Smoke, and Pumice Stone.

Repeat the process with scene in the second frame. In the third scene, you need to mask off both the mummy and the zombie before you stamp the background.

Before adding color, stamp the BEWARE sentiment in the bottom left corner of the first frame.

Once the stamping is done, watercolor all the scenes with Distress inks. I used Black Soot, Pumice Stone and Hickory Smoke.  

When you are finished,  trim the piece to fit under the filmstrip and adhere the stamped piece to the front of the cardbase. 

Finish by adhering the Acetate Filmstip that was cut earlier.

Special Guest - Waleska Galindo

Hello Friends!!! Waleska Galindo here from craftinglovew. I'm super happy today to be sharing with you my first project for this month as Guest Designer for Whimsy Stamps. I have been a fan of their amazing products for a long time, and I am very honored to be guest designing today!  For my first card I used the cute and funny stamp set "Ants at a Picnic". I mixed this set with the Slimline Meadow Die set to create a fun and relaxed summer scene.

CARD DETAILS:

To create this card I started by die cuttting the Slimline Meadow die set from white cardstock, I then ink-blended this front panel with the new distress ink Rustic Wilderness, I also ink-blended another panel to create the sky for the scene also with distress inks in colors Kitsch Flamingo and Mustard Seed. I love these two colors together for summer. I splashed some water drops for more texture.

I then colored the cute ants with tri-blend markers in colors Dark Red blend, Bright Pink Blend, Citrus Blend and Jade Green blend.  I started creating this fun scene by placing the first two ants into the grass to make them look like they are having fun eating and enjoying a summer day, I love this slimline die set because you can put almost any image into the grass and make it look like part of the scene.

I adhered the sky panel and the flying ant into the scene with 3D foam tape.  I also added some clouds from the Slimline Meadow die. I finally glued this panel to a slimline kraft cardstock cardbase and stamped the sentiment in the corner of the card.

I had so much fun creating this card. I hope you can be inspired to create some fun summer cards and remember to stay safe and stay crafty! Hugs!!!

Hi, Whimsy fans!  Karen Roberts is back with us sharing another delightful, Halloween card.

Well, our favorite dragon is back, and this time he's going trick-or-treating!  How fun is that?!  Karen did a little creative stamping to one of the Fishing Dragons to create this cute trick-or-treater.  She used distress inks for that awesome sky, which she sprinkled with water and Perfect Pearls.  She colored her images with Copics and popped up that fun dragon with foam squares.

Hi, Whimsy fans!  Today we are welcoming Karen Roberts to the Whimsy Stamps' blog!  Karen is an amazing colorist and has been a longtime Whimsy supporter.  We are delighted to have her share her talent with us!  You can follow Karen on her Instagram account for more inspiration.

Karen created a colorful, Halloween card with one of the cute characters from Giraffes Peeking.  She stamped her images onto Neenah 80 lb Solar White Cardstock and colored them with Copics.  She created that awesome background with distress inks.  To add interest to her background, she sprinkled it with water and Perfect Pearls.  

Don't you just love how the black frame makes that funny giraffe pop?!
