Snow Road

Hi Everyone, it's Faye here today :)

I am prepared to admit Christmas is coming. I am also prepared to admit I made a Christmas card. Yes, I know, I should have warned you to sit down first, sorry. The newly released Snow Road is the kind of image that begs to be coloured immediately. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I've coloured this gorgeous stamp with copics and added a few extra scrumptious supplies from Whimsy too. I started by die cutting the image with Rounded Rectangle Dies. Can you spot the other items?

There, that should have helped. The sentiment is from the Christmas Ellie-Ments Stamp Set and I die cut that with Quick Strips

I stamped the Snow Flurry Background Stamp onto Vellum with white ink and embossed it, I love this effect. And finally, a few star gems from the Starry Sky Sparkletz Pack. Careful, these little packets of lovely are addictive!

And that's it... time for a mince pie ;)

31 nights of Halloween - Night 12

I hope you have had a chance to enjoy the first 11 nights of these fun and inspiring posts from the Whimsy DT and Guest DT.  If you haven't, be sure and catch up on the first 11 posts.  Did you see there are over $350.00 in prizes being given away at the end of the month?  Yes, you heard me right, $350.00!

For my post I am using one of the two stamps that Whimsy will be giving away from the commenters on this post.

This stamp Country Porch looks like a welcoming trick-or-treat spot don't you think?  The warm glow from the window, with the fall leaves all around and a few welcoming Jack-o-lanterns too.

When I created this card I wanted to add dimension.  Seeing as its a larger card front image I thought it would be prefect to pop the different layers up.  If you look closely, I have 3 layers on the tree, and the house has two layers.

If you see this in person it is a "wow, cool!" moment.  What a perfect fall card.  Great for Thanksgiving, Halloween or anyone who enjoys a little bit of country.

How To Score Big!

Winner is announced on Halloween night.   If you want more chances to win, be be sure hit up the Whimsy blog every night at 6pm.  You will want to see what the other DT members posted because there might be some prizes there too.  Be sure and check back after spoiling all those trick-or-treaters to see if you were one of the lucky winner.   Once winner are announced (on the night of the 31st), you will have until the 7th of November to claim your prize.

So, my question to you is...What is your favorite stamp from the DoveArt line of stamps?  Be sure and leave a comment.  Happy Haunting!

Arrgg Pirate! Ye Ol' Scalawag!

Ahoy ye old scalawag!  Get ready for some blustering action on this card.  When I saw this clear set Arrgg Pirates from the Dustin Pike line of stamps I knew just what I was going to create!  I wanted to make a shake-shake-shaker card with a ship at sea.  How cool is this?

I airbrushed the background for the foreground of the card onto glossy paper.  Using the new Peekaboo Windows 3 die I cut out the windows.  It's the perfect openings to make a scene with.   Simply add foam tape around the lower window to create the shaker.   After coloring up the images I placed the ship in the lower window and carefully added micro-beads before sealing it up.  Next I chose the rascally parrot to add to two of the windows and the Ahoy sentiment to finish it off.   Of course I had to add a porthole simply by using circle dies and coloring it to look like wood.  Just add brads to make it look like the porthole bolts.

Shake, shake, shake!!  The perfect interactive boys card!

You can now find all the dies and stamps available in the store...but they will sell out fast so grab 'em ye ol' blunderin' pirate!

Elegant Thanks - Columbine and Hummingbird

I was so excited to color up this newly released stamp with my Copic markers.  This elegant Columbine and Hummingbird is so easy to color.  With all the small dots in the stamped image the shading is almost already done for you.  The hardest part was to decide on the colors I wanted to use as hummingbirds and Columbine flowers come in so many shades and colors.

I think it would make a beautifully water-colored card as well, all you need to do is stamp it in a lighter color to make the stamp lines less prominent.  I know you will enjoy this stamp as much as I have.  I look forward to using this stamp over and over.

When I colored the image, a lot of the colors in the background aren't from your natural Copic blending colors.  I used lighter fun colors for the background to blend with the E81 E84 and E87.  I literally just smooshed them together until they blended.  Because they are the lighter colors they slightly erase the prior colors allowing for an easier blend.

You can find this stamp in the store and if its sold out be sure and fill out the "contact me" so you will be the first to know when its available again!

    The Best Friendship

How many of you have figured out how fun it is to combine images and stamps?  I would love to see more of you try this.  Its really quite easy and makes your stamps have more then one look.

For this card I combined Pumpkin Patch and Penguin Spook Nite to create this scene.  I even got to use the NEW Notched Rectangle die.  I have to admit this is a favorite of mine.

All the color combination are posted on my blog if you are interest.  Just head to Just4FunCrafts here.    I can not wait to see what YOU do with combining images!!

    I Like Big Mutts

I created this card using one of the newer Background sets from Whimsy Stamps called Puppy Paws Background.  This stamp leaves such a precise stamped image...I think I had too much fun using it.

Combining it with the new clear stamp set Soul Mutts I decided to do some fancy masking.  This doggie is standing next to a little girl.  I masked her off on the actual stamp and inked up the stamp blocking the ink from getting on her...then remove the mask and stamped the image.  To get the dogs overlapping I also had to create a second mask to cover the stamped dog on the card.  I did mention it was fancy masking didn't I?  I am super pleased with this card.  Do you know someone who would like a card like this?  Better get your clear set from the store while its still there.

    Be Happy!

Time is running out to purchase the Paper Door kit from Whimsy Stamps.  These are only available for a limited time and have limited quantities available.  Time is ticking!  For this shaker I used some of the elements in the box but then added my own shaker pieces using a punch and the delicious glitter paper that comes in the kit.  How easy to make complimenting pieces for your shakers.

I also created my own background paper using a finger dauber and a distress ink pad.  I enjoy making my own papers and this clear stamp set made it such an easy choice.

     TIME IS RUNNING OUT!

    Whimsy Stamps -

    Shake It Up!

I dont do shakers that often but I really love them when I do.  I created this card using the Whimsy Stamps Paper Door kit.  I was insured by DT member Nic's Shaker, you can see hers HERE.   I loved the outcome of this card and it was super fun to create.  I made my own background paper with a ruler and one of the many goodies in the box.  I love checkers and its so easy and almost therapeutic to make.

Dont wait...get your kit ordered!!!  You will be pleasantly surprised with all the goodies and card potential in the box.

    Paper Door Shimmer and Shine

Shimmer and Shine that is part of what you receive in this months Paper Door kit.  Here is another card created using the kit goodies.  I love hummingbirds dont you?  This embossing folder is to die for as well.  You can find all the Paper Door Details at the link below.
