31 Nights of Halloween - Night 23 - Special Guest Kulbir Kirkland

Good evening, Whimsy fans! 

Tonight you are in for quite a treat as we welcome the talented Kulbir Kirkland to the blog!

Hello friends I am so excited to have been invited to be a guest designer for Whimsy Stamps 31 Days of Halloween. Definitely my favorite time of the year. I am sharing a card I made using some super fun and creepy Whimsy stamp sets and ..distress everything :)

My cardstock for this project was Distress Heavystock. I first used distress spray colors salty ocean, wilted violet, rusty hinge, walnut stain and black soot. After I had dried it I went over with prize ribbon and dusty concord , sprtiz with water and dried it with my heat tool. Last part I add sprays of flickering candle and splatters of Dina Wakely white acrylic paint.

I stamped on the same fence from Attempted Murder with black archival ink.

Using distress woodgrain cardstock I inked it up using ground espress and pumice stone distress spray and dried with a heat tool. After it had dried I added some frayed burlap with a blending brush. Inked up the same fence and stamped it onto of the woodgrain using the same archival ink.

Yes I cut up each panel and using foam tape I pieced it on top the original fence I had stamped on the panel. I inked up the cemetery from the Halloween Scream and stamped it above the fence to give the illusion that it was on the other side.

To finish off the card I used colored the branch using copic markers and popped everything up on foam tape. I wanted the Happy Halloween sentiment to look like it was bolted to the fence. For that I used the hardware set from Tim Holtz Idea-ology. I cut the panel down to fit on an A2 card base.

31 Nights of Halloween - Night 17 - Special Guest Rebecca Rapanaro

Let's give a warm welcome to Rebecca Rapanaro as she shares some spooky, Halloween inspiration with us tonight!

 It’s almost Halloween and I could not be more excited! I know, I know, it’s not for everyone, but the lovely folks over at Whimsy Stamps sure do share my love of all that is creepy! Right now, they have their Annual 31 nights of Halloween Blog Celebration! There are prizes to be won, and it’s just plain fun, Fun, FUN! You know what else is fun? I get to guest design this month making scary cards ooooh….. Sort of like the one above - creepy dolls and houses. Did that curtain just move? Did you hear that? Oh my, before I never sleep again…….

I used an assortment of my favorite new and old stamps and dies to create this (hopefully) very macabre scene! Before I get into just how I created this scene, I just want to mention the designer of these gorgeous stamps and dies, Deb Davis. You are totally awesome, and thank you always for creating such amazing images and characters that have found a home in my imagination and heart.

To create this scene, I used the dolly from Dead Dolly; the house from Cute But Psycho; and the fence, branches, and crow from Attempted Murder.  After stamping my scene, I coloured alot.  I have listed the colors below :

Copic Colours: W3, W0, N2, T2, T0, T3, YG91, BV23, E000, W2, BV000, 0, E19, E37, G94, G46, G24, YG67, YG06, B66, B32, E49, R02, BV04, E21, B97, V17, E87 

Prismacolors: 306, 905, 936, 935, 993, 1081

I also used a Micron 01 pen and a Copic Multiliner to create the cracks in the doll's body. Distress inks were used, as well as a white Gelly Roll pen for highlights. I used fun foam to mount the fence, and I simply made a mask to create the moon.  I added a die-cut sentiment from the Haunted Words Die Set.  "Vacancy" is from the Grave Epitaphs set.

Spooky Night Web Card

Hi Everyone, and welcome back! Today I'm sharing this Spooky Night Web card using an alcohol ink lift and transfer technique. This was one of those,  "Oops! Well let's see where this goes," cards that actually worked in the end.

After lifting the ink on the Yupo panel, I decided to see how it would look if I re-stamped the image in black Archival Ink.

Technique: Alcohol Lift-Ink and transfer stamp

I began by creating an alcohol ink background on Yupo paper, and then tried to lift the ink with Ranger Alcohol Lift-Ink, but I didn't like the results. So I transferred the lifted ink image by stamping it onto white Neenah cardstock, and that is how the magic happened! Oh my! I think this Web Background Stamp looks so pretty. Look at those blues, greens, and purples. What do you think?

Next I stamped the tree branches and crows from Attempted Murder, stamped the little bats from Howling Night, and lightly blended Hickory Smoke and Black Soot Distress Inks around the panel. Then I added the distressed idea-ology "Beware" token (See a step-by-step tutorial HERE), wrapped black twine, and sentiments from the You're My Boo stamp set. Finally, I layered with purple and black cardstock onto a black card base.
