31 Nights of Halloween: Night 7

{Cue the spooky laughter.}  Welcome to Night 7 of Whimsy Stamps' 31 Nights of Halloween Blog Celebration!  Have you been enjoying this frightfully fun event?  In case you missed it, be sure to check out grand prize post here.

My card features the adorable Kitty N Pumpkin stamp by Krista Heij-Barber.  Isn't he the cutest?!  I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Copics.  I die-cut the image with a circle die and added details with a white gel pen.  I brushed on some clear sparkle and gave the kitty's eyes some dimension with Glossy Accents.

That jack-o-lantern was just calling to be illuminated!  Luckily, I had picked up some Chibitronics supplies a few months back in the Whimsy shop and finally got brave enough to use them.  First, I stamped a second Kitty N Pumpkin onto white cardstock and die-cut it with the same circle die I had used for the colored image.  With an Xacto knife, I cut out the jack-o-lantern's eyes and mouth on the second image.  I die-cut a black scalloped circle larger than my colored image.  I placed the altered image onto the scalloped circle and marked the cut areas with a pencil.  With my Xacto knife, I cut those areas out of the scalloped circle.  Note:  You only need the second stamped image as a cutting guide; you will not actually use it on your card.

With the ChibitronicsCopper Tape and LED Stickers, I created a circuit on the back of the colored image.  (This was the part that made me the most nervous, but after watching a few video tutorials, it wasn't as complicated as I feared.  Read: You actually DON'T need a degree in engineering to do this. ;) )  I housed the battery in a cardstock rectangle that I folded in half, adhering the battery to the rectangle with glue dots.  I covered the back of the colored image with two layers of foam tape to account for the thickness of the battery and affixed it to the scalloped circle, matching up the openings on the black circle with the LED stickers on the colored image.  After you watch a couple of videos, this paragraph will make more sense, I promise.

I trimmed some green patterned paper to 5 ¾” x 5 ¾” and adhered it to a 6" white card.  I die-cut the orange paper with the Straight Edgers Die Set so that it roughly measures 3” x 5 ¾” and glued it to the card.  Finally, I attached the scalloped circle to the card with foam adhesive and embellished with some black enamel dots.

I really enjoyed making this card and am so glad I got over my fear of using the Chibitronics.  I hope I've encouraged you to try something new in your cardmaking, no matter how intimidating it may seem at first.  Thanks for stopping by!

Kitty 'n Pumpkin Rubber Cling Stamp Straight Edger Die Set

Elegant Made Simple

Hi everyone!  Melissa here today to share a few simple cards using some of my favorite Whimsy products.  Often, we need a quick card that looks beautiful.  I love the new border dies for this very thing.

I simple made a card base and used the die to chop the card front off.  Took a pretty piece of paper, and adhered it to the back of the front flap of the card.  Simple and beautiful.  I finished with a simple sentiment from the new Country Wreath set.

For the next card, I did something very similar, only I placed the die at an angle.  I also used the new farmhouse basket stencil with the gold delicata ink.  I finished it off with a sentiment from You're My Favorite, stamped in Versafine Clair Nocturne.

Two simple cards made in no time!  I hope you like today's creations and will try this on your own!  Make sure to come back tomorrow for more fun.
