You're in for a real treat today, Whimsy friends, as we welcome the talented Amy Young back to the blog!

Hello crafty friends!  I'm just tickled pink to be joining Whimsy Stamps as a guest designer once again this year! And I gotta admit, this is a favorite time to be joining the fun because we are right in the thick of crafting for the upcoming holidays, and Whimsy always has amazing stamps for those special occasions. I thought about jumping right in with a Halloween card, but when I saw these amazingly cute squirrels in the new Bundles of Hugs set, I couldn't let the fall season pass without inking them up.

When thinking about how to put the scene together using all three of the squirrels, I had to come up with ways to get them on three different levels so that the overall design would be more active and dynamic. That's when I remembered the tree stump that comes in the PDP Harley stamp set... it's the perfect lift for the acorn balancing squirrel! I also grabbed the little fairy door that comes in the PDP Raden set and added it to the stump to create a home for these squirrels to hibernate in once they are done foraging and showing off, LOL!

I stamped the third squirrel with the sunflower nice and high on the card then simply colored in a wooden fence for him to stand on. Because there was so much brown going on between the fence, tree stump and bushel of apples, I decided to make my squirrels grey, so they would really stand out against the warmer tones. I'm so pleased with the cheeky story this scene tells and how animated and alive these little cuties appear to be.  :)

Well that's it from me today, I will be back next Thursday with some Halloween spookiness to share!

Hello friends!

It's Amy here back with my second guest post for Whimsy Stamps, and today I've inked up another new Polka Dot Pal. This cute little guy is Raden, and he is quite the adventurous boy, don't you think? I really wanted to play up his intrepid spirit and give him a proper trail to hike. The fallen log and fox that I have him standing on come in the same set with Raden, while I borrowed the tree stump and frog from the Harley set. Because I have so much going on in this scene, I upped my "canvas" size to a larger slimline card rather than my usual standard A2 that I normally create. Then I proceeded to color in a sunlit forest path for Raden to explore, and it sure looks like he is having a blast.

I have had a blast this month, too!  Thanks so much to Whimsy Stamps for having me; it's been a real treat! I'm actually going to be coloring more Whimsy stamps today, March 26, Live at 3pm PST on my Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page, so I hope you can join me then!

Thank you, Amy, for another fabulous card!

Hello, crafty friends!  Amy Young here and I'm super excited to be joining Whimsy Stamps as a guest designer this month! I've been a long time fan of so many of their various stamp collections, and I'm happy to be joining the fun with them once again.

This month Whimsy released two new Polka Dot Pals, and I chose to ink up Harley for my card today. One of the great things about the Polka Dot Pals is that they are sort of blank canvases when it comes to their faces, and you are encouraged to either use the additional facial feature stamps that come with some of them or add in your own features as you color to make them your own. I took that idea a step further and did a bit of gender bending as I turned mine into a female Harley complete with a flirty pixie cut... because girls like getting out in nature too. Which leads me to another great thing about these stamps: Each set comes with a lot of great background-builder images that are awesome for creating scenes on their own, but really take off once you have a few sets to mix and match together. That cool tree stump, babbling brook and little frog all come with Harley and help tell her story for me. The rest of the background I sketched in myself as she enjoys a quiet moment in her sunny meadow.

Well that's it from me today, I will be back next Thursday with more Polka Dot Pal fun to share!
