Endless Summer Nights...

Hello Whimsy Fans! Ellie here today, it's the first Wednesday of the month and so it's my turn to share a little Whimsy inspiration with you. Hope you like it!

I recently decided to experiment with mixed media style project and I am having so much fun! And definitely a way to get inky fingers :-)

The background was made by adhering assorted designer papers from my stash to mixed media card stock using mod podge. I also applied a coat of mod podge onto the adhered papers.  I used white gesso to soften it and you can now really only see very little of the designer papers peeking through. After the gesso dried, I applied some gelatos to the background (green for the bottom part and blue on top and just smoothed it out with a slightly damp baby wipe. Now it was time to adhere the colored image and sentiments.

The image is from Whimsy's Cathy Delannssay's collection - L' Hymne aux Fees which was just released in May. It's been stamped onto copic blending card and colored using copic markers, then fussy cut. She was also adhered using mod podge. The wings aren't part of the image, I just used part of  the butterfly die for the wings. The "Summer Dreams..." Sentiment is part of a Stamp set by Crissy Armstrong from an older release (Summer Garden and sentiments). The circle sentiment is part of the "Sun-sational Sentiments" set by Raindrop Echo designs from the May release.  I sprayed the sentiments with spray ink (dylusions) and also used gelatos to give them some color.
Whimsy's new Butterfly border die was  used to cut the butterflies and I used an extra butterfly as an embellishment next to the sentiments. Butterflies were all covered with stickles. I added a little more gelatos here and there to give it some more depths. Using mod podge turned this into a  heavy project, instead of using it as a card and I am planning on adding it to my mantel in the living room, once I take the spring decoration down (which will be very soon!)

Thanks so much for stopping by and
Happy almost summertime - we surely have had some very summery days here in the midwest already!
