Digital Divas Sensational Sunday Tutorials ~ September

Whimsy friends,
we have the lovely Ute Berger sharing a digital tutorial with us today
and I absolutely LOVE what she's chosen to do!

Who doesn't need storage for their gorgeous crafty creations right?! We spend so much time and energy creating beautiful cards and if you're like me, wind up with a whole bunch on your desk gathering dust until it comes the date to give them away to family and friends for birthdays and Christmas and other special occasions.

What do you do with your gorgeous handmade cards to store them? Ute has designed a fabulous card storage box for us all to create. She's also created storage dividers that she's separated into several different categories. Such an absolutely fabulous idea!! I know I'll be making one and hope you will too. Be sure to share your finished storage box with us, we'd love to see it!

Products Used:
12 x 12 Thick Cardstock for Base
Scissors or Cutting Tool
Scoring Board and Tool
Decorative Patterned Paper
Ribbon or Lace
Letter Dies for Box Title
Strong Cardstock in Different Colours for Dividers
Distress Ink, Gouache or Gesso for box finishing touches

Cut and score your box base following the directions in Ute's accompanying tutorial from the 12x12 cardstock. Ute has used a kraft cardstock base, but you can choose any colour you like. Using your choice of strong glue, adhere all the corner tabs and allow to dry very well. Ute preferred to use a liquid glue here for strong adherence, but any strong glue of your choice will work.

You can distress the edges of the box, or paint with gouache or gesso for a nice finished look, before adding your choice of decorative paper and trimmings to embellish the box. This gives such a lovely really 'finished' look to the box. Whimsy Stamps has a large range of both Physical Papers and Digital Papers, so you're spoilt for choice! Ute used paper from our lovely Otter's Paper Set, which is now available in our Digital Paper Collection.

Once you've decorated your finished box base with the papers of your choice and lovely ribbons or lace or other embellishments, you can create a label for the front of your box. Ute used two of the Whimsy Stamps Wonky Stitched Rectangles to create her box front label and used some lovely (now retired) alphabet dies to create the 'Cards' label. Whimsy has a wide range of word dies and alphabet dies, you can check those out here. Ute then added in the lovely brightly coloured dividers with category labels. So now you can always know where to find that special card you created months ago when the right celebration comes up! No more huffing and sighing, hunting for that card you know you created, but can no longer find! Oh I SO need to make one of these storage boxes, hehe!!

You can download a copy of Ute's full tutorial with all the directions and measurements of how to create this wonderful card storage box, by clicking on the banner below. Visit her Blog too for another step by step sharing of this wonderful tutorial.

If you make your own version of this fantastic storage box, be sure to come and share it with Ute in the Whimsy Stamps Facebook Group, I know Ute would love to see what you're inspired to do and I sure would too! So don't be shy to share! Hugs and happy crafting from Ute, me and all the Whimsy Stamps Digital Design Divas!
