Special Guest - Waleska Galindo

Hello, Whimsy friends!  Today we welcome the talented Waleska Galindo to the blog!

Hello Friends!!! Waleska Galindo here from craftinglovew. I'm super happy today to be sharing with you my first project for this month as Guest Designer for Whimsy Stamps. I have been a fan of their amazing products for a long time, and I am very honored to be guest designing today!  For my first card I used the cute and funny stamp set "Ants at a Picnic". I mixed this set with the Slimline Meadow Die set to create a fun and relaxed summer scene.

CARD DETAILS:

To create this card I started by die cuttting the Slimline Meadow die set from white cardstock, I then ink-blended this front panel with the new distress ink Rustic Wilderness, I also ink-blended another panel to create the sky for the scene also with distress inks in colors Kitsch Flamingo and Mustard Seed. I love these two colors together for summer. I splashed some water drops for more texture.

I then colored the cute ants with tri-blend markers in colors Dark Red blend, Bright Pink Blend, Citrus Blend and Jade Green blend.  I started creating this fun scene by placing the first two ants into the grass to make them look like they are having fun eating and enjoying a summer day, I love this slimline die set because you can put almost any image into the grass and make it look like part of the scene.

I adhered the sky panel and the flying ant into the scene with 3D foam tape.  I also added some clouds from the Slimline Meadow die. I finally glued this panel to a slimline kraft cardstock cardbase and stamped the sentiment in the corner of the card.

I had so much fun creating this card. I hope you can be inspired to create some fun summer cards and remember to stay safe and stay crafty! Hugs!!!

Life is Sweet....

Good morning! Michele here with a summery card using Whimsy's new set called, Ants at a Picnic.  It is such a darling set!
I stamped this cute image with black Memento ink and colored it with Copic markers.  I added glossy accents to the seeds.  Once they were dry, I added a white highlight with a gel pen.
I used the new  background stamp, Checkerboard Doodles in Picked Raspberry Distress ink. I used the Zig Zag stitched Rectangle die to cut the image out. I layered it over the background with Crafty Foam tape.  I added a gingham ribbon and a teeny heart from the Sparkletz Love collection.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hello Whimsy Fans! It's Iris here today and I want to share this fun shaker card I made with one of the newly released clear stamp sets called 'Ants at a Picnic' by Dustin Pike. Look at those adorable smooshy faces.  Usually I am not very fond of ants -yikes- but I would love to have these guys in my yard.

To create the blue and red backgrounds I sponged distress oxide inks (chipped sapphire, broken china, festive berries, worn lipstick) onto mixed media paper using an ink blending tool. I added white and metallic pink ink sprinkles to the blue sky background and sprinkled some water and white ink onto the red shaker background.
I colored using Faber Castell Albrecht Dürer watercolor pencils, and the images were stamped onto mixed media paper with hybrid ink. Sometimes, if I am not sure what medium I want to use to color my images, I use mixed media paper and a hybrid ink to stamp. This way I have lots of options to choose from including alcohol markers. It also gives me the option to combine different mediums without worrying if the ink might bleed, etc.
I also like to use mixed media paper for blended backgrounds because the ink blends like butter on these papers. My favorite is Strathmore 400 Series Mixed Media Paper. It is bright white and has a heavy 140 lb / 300 gsm weight.

For the grass I used the darkest plain green from the Otters designer paper pack and the grass dies from the Cloud and Grass edger die set. I sponged the grass edges with Peeled Paint distress ink and used a soft, dense blending brush. The sentiment is included with the stamps.

I also used foam tape to pop up some of the images and paper layers to give the card a 3D look.
