Always On My Mind

Hello All!

I am so honored to be a Guest Designer for Whimsy Stamps this month. Don't you just love all the fun images that Whimsy has to offer. The very first time I saw this cute Whimsy Frog I knew I had to get it. He is just the sweetest thing. I think he looks like he is deep in thought. Thinking about something that makes him smile.

I colored him with copics and then cut him out. I decided to embellish him with a handmade flower. You can make your own by simply layering various sized circles of paper. I distressed mine a bit for some texture. The leaves in the back were cut out of card stock vellum and then colored with copics for a hint of color. I believe my paper is by My Mind's Eye. Almost everything is a leftover scrap so I'm sorry I can't be more specific. I used a rub on for my sentiment and cut it out with a horizontal punch.

Well, that's it for me today. Thanks so much for popping in!

Nikki

Sent With Love

Hi everyone!!!

I'm so excited to be posting on the Whimsy Inspiration blog today!!!! What a fun way to share a little Whimsy with everyone!!! The card I am sharing today uses one of the newly released fairies, Water Lily. I also used the Oval Snippets set created by Ann of Raindrop Echo Designs for Whimsy Stamps.

I thought this would be a great Mother's Day card. Maybe not a traditional Mother's day card but I think it would work well anyway.

I used retired designer paper from Stampin Up along with baja breeze and basic gray card stock. I added a few pearls, some ribbon and a charm to dress her up a bit.

Well thanks for sharing a piece of your Friday with us!!! Hope to see you back soon for some more inspiration!!!

Enjoy your weekend,
Erin

Easter Wall Hanging

I was inspired to create this wall hanging after seeing the pretty spring colours in the grocery stores already stocking Easter goodies! I saw a picture with this saying and just had to make my own, isn't it funny where we get our inspiration from sometimes!
I used the Whimsy Stamps ' Bunny with snowman' but cut the snowman off to make an Easter bunny!

I think this might have been a lot more 'busy' if I had created it a different day but this week my style has tended towards clean and simple which I think suits the pretty spring colours.
I don't know about you but I tend to give away pretty much everything I make, that is what you do with cards, right? the nice thing about this is I get to keep it!
If you make a wall hanging I hope you will leave me a comment so I can come along and see it!
Don't forget to drop by tomorrow and see who is posting some more Whimsy Inspiration!
Have a great day!

Shy-Ann in Spring colors!

Like Simonne, this is my first post on the Whimsy Stamps Inspiration Blog so I'm a bit nervous, too!  You have to see her fantastic creation using the Whimsy Owl below.  Oh, and I love how she stuck the 65 in the center of the birthday sentiment.  How creative is that?!

Today I have a creation to share with you using one of the new fairies from Whimsy Stamps!  I've used Shy-Ann and I just love her pose, her sweet innocent eyes, and that hair in a bun.  I love putting these new fairies in Spring colors, maybe it's because I can't wait for the flowers to start blooming.  On this card, I've also used some Cherry Blossoms (another thing I can't stop playing with), and guess what?  You can also get these Cherry Blossoms at the Whimsy Stamps store!

On this card, I've also used a sentiment from the new sentiments set Whimsy Oval Snippets.  These Oval Snippets are pretty versatile because even though most were made to fit in SU! punches, they also fit a lot of the Cuttlebug dies, which is what I used to make the little label that's holding the sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed my card!  We'll see you back here real soon for the official launch of the DT postings!

T-wit T-woo ...

Happy Whimsical Wednesday everyone! This is my first post here at Whimsy Inspirations, and I don't mind admitting that I'm a teeny, tiny bit nervous, LOL! Today I would like to share with you my latest Whimsy creation which is also my DT card for this week's Sketch Saturday Challenge.

It's my dad's 65th birthday this week, and so of course I had to make him a special card! Whenever I need to make male cards, the first images that pop into my mind are the fabulous Whimsy Animals Collection stamps. I find that everyone in my life (whether they be female or male) adore these funny images!!

I chose this orange/brown/cream colour combo after leafing through my Basic Grey 'Mellow' 6x6 paper pad (an oldie, but a goodie!). [I apologise if the colours are weird - we had a power outage last week when the PC was on, and ever since then we have a pink tint to the screen!!!!]. The colour combo and the sketch just sang out "Whimsy Owl" to me!

I also used the "Happy Birthday 2 U" stamp from the fabulous Whimsy Circle Postmarks stamp set, designed by Raindrop Echo Designs. Whimsy have 2 of these circle postmark stamp sets, and I have to say they are by far my most favourite sentiment stamps! I stamped the circle postmark twice, cut out an inner circle from one image, flipped it over, chalked around the edges, wrote the number "65" in the middle, and then stuck it over the "2 U" of the other image!

Well, I think that's about enough from me, LOL! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hugs,

Pretty Peartunia is quite PAIRfect!

posted by Vicki:
LOL!!  OK, so I'm having a bit of fun with these new Mythical collection Fairies by Katie Sowa!! :)  This one is called Pretty Peartunia. I thought that her rear-end would be a great place for a fun sentiment!  There is plenty of room for one anyone!! LOL!!  I think she's adorable and of course looks so great in green!  she was a blast to color in with my copics.  the small green heart on her bottom along with the sentiment also comes from a new sentiment set called Snippets Set 1 designed by Raindrop Echo Designs.  There have been several new ones just released!  So please be sure to stop by the store to check out all of these new wonderful designs!!  These whimsical fairies are surely enough to make you smile! :)

I've also decided to play along in a couple of other challenges with this card, so I'm entering this in the following challenges:

Flutterby - Fairy with heart
Corrosive - wings
Cupcake Craft - Friends
Spoonful of Sugar - distressing, pearls & glitter
Saturday Spotlight - Doing the "Mess Around" - This challenge blog is also being sponsored by Whimsy Stamps this week...so BE SURE to pop over there to enter your creation!

If you have recently gotten one of these new Mythical images, we would LOVE to see what you've done with it!  With Spring weather coming, these seem so "pairfect" to play around with!! LOL!
Hope you all have a wonderful day and thanks so much for stopping by today!!

A Whimsy Valentine!

Good Morning Everyone, HAPPY FRIDAY!!! I wanted to share a card with you that I made for this weeks Sweetness and Love Challenge over at our SNR Group. I just can't get enough of this sweet and adorable Whimsy Fox. He is so versatile and I wanted to give him a shot to become a Whimsy Valentine! I stamped him in momento ink then colored with copics. I punched out two Martha Stewart butterflies to give it more of at 3-D effect. I really like this color combo for Valentine's Day, the colors I used are Ruby Red, River Rock, and Chocolate Chip.

To see more samples of this adorable image and many others come and visit our Store Gallery!!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you get a chance to come play along with this weeks Sweetness and Love Challenge!!!

A Cool Ride Tag!

Happy thursday! Are you starting to wind down yet? it is nearly the weekend after all, woohoo!
I have a 'little' bit of Whimsy to show you today. This may look like a normal card to you using the fabulous Carousel horse 'A Cool Ride' but look a little closer, it is in miniature!
I thought it would make a fantastic matching tag!

I was inspired by the Saturday Spotlight challenge this week which is
'teeny tiny'
I am lucky enough to have this horse as a digi, I am sure many of you have the special 'Wings of Hope' digital image which you could resize in the same way. I also removed the pole in photoshop first before shrinking. If you don't have your Wings digi yet you can find it here
Here you can see how small and cute my little horsey is, awww!

Hope you enjoyed your little bit of Whimsy today, don't forget to tune in tomorrow for more inspiration from another DT member.

A Round Whimsy Owl

Hello my lovelies! How is everyone today? Are you ready for some more Whimsy inspiration? If you're feeling a bit down I hope that this card will bring a little ray of sunshine to your world, or a warm glow at least. I'm sure my little mishap will bring a smile to your face - so please read on.

Well, I had a giggle with this card. This was one of those rare occasions where everything you pick up works perfectly together and the card turns out just the way you imagined it would. However, when I tried to photograph it, it was impossible to take the picture. Why? It kept rolling over to one side so the image was sideways on! No matter what I did, it wouldn't stand straight.
You see, I just didn't think about how heavy those little pearls would be and what with the ribbon being off centre too....it just wouldn't stand up straight. I had tears of laughter rolling down my face. The poor little Whimsy Owl (bless him!) looked like he'd had one tipple too many!!

I had a brainwave though, and whoever receives this card will be a British penny richer. I carefully peeled the image away from the foam pads and after a few tries, I got a penny to stick in just the right place to balance the card!!! Honestly, the things we crafters have to do!

So the moral is....if you are making a round card, be sure to think about how your embellishments will balance on the finished item!

Don't forget you can purchase this cutie Whimsy owl from the Animals Collection in the Whimsy store.

Thanks for looking.

Whimsy's Sweetness and Love challenge!

Posted by Vicki Parson (Whimsy DT coordinator/Sr. Designer):

Hello friends and welcome to our new Whimsy Inspirational blog!  You may already be familiar with Whimsy Stamps.  Weather or not you are, you will want to grab your cup of coffee every day to sit, enjoy the blog and become inspired with the fabulously talented Whimsy Design Team as we share daily creations and lots of inspiration with you!  We hope that you will enjoy this blog as your creative place to explore everything Whimsy and we are very excited to be bringing it to you!
So please enjoy and come back for more! :)

He's such a cutie pie, isn't he?!!  He's the Whimsy Dog & Sign from Whimsy Stamps!   (Here's your sign!)
And if you haven't been in the Whimsy store lately...what are you reading this sign for anyway?!!  GET OVER THERE and check out some new products just added to the store!!  They have some brand new ADORABLE charms!!  (looks like I need to do some shopping myself!)  They have some really sweet charms and even little paw prints that would work wonderfully with this image!! ;)  **Don't forget that when you spend $50 or more, you will receive FREE shipping!**

I've created this card today for the new Whimsy Stamps challenge on the SNR Whimsy Group that started today!  Denise is asking us to make something that resembles "Sweetness & Love"...and if you don't have a Whimsy Stamps image to use, there's a free digi you can download to play along with us!!  So  hop on over there and check it out!!  We'd love to see you using your Whimsy Stamps!! :)

For my card I decided to break out some of the unloved designer papers that I've been hoarding.  I think he looks adorable with the dew drop hearts I've got above his head and on top of the dimensional flower center.  I've also combined this Whimsy Dog & Sign with the Whimsy Ruff Day Sentiments and the Whimsy Simply Said Sentiment sets.  I think it makes for a really sweet Valentine for someone special!! :)
